A Home in the Heavens is an idea I have been kicking around for a while. Basically, it is similar in the basic concept to the fairly well known x-prize. However, it departs in many respects and is unique in its approach.

The fundamental underpinnings for the Project are to create Financial Incentives for the Colonization of Space. Basically, we will accumulate resources to eventually liquidate for the sole benefit of the first independent and self sufficient colony that is viable and sustainable.

I understand that many will say this is contrary to the 'Will of God' and cannot happen according to their understanding of prophesy. For those of you who are not of a persuasion that such religious ideas carry any merit, this is not hard to ignore. However, I am a Christian, so such considerations are not something I step past easily.

For my part, I have determined that what must be done is that good be done in the interim, so that should they (the naysayers) be right, I do not stand against the Will of God. If He does not want us to get there, we simply will not get there. I do not wish to even seem to oppose this, for I do not.

But, just because someone says they understand the prophesies, it is not certain that they do. If they say they know the day and the time of the end, I am certain they do not. Historically, the majority has always been wrong in the common understanding of any prophesy. Few minds are truly open enough to accept the truth and so they ignore what fails to fill their preconceptions. We are a stiff necked people (read -- prejudiced and stubborn) and insecurely compensating with false pride.

So the Basic Idea is to accumulate as large a prize as we can, and invest that prize wisely so that it might do as much good as possible on this world in the meantime. Of course, there is more to the idea than that! Smile
